Maplewood propositions pass, turnover in Maplewood & Brentwood

On Tuesday Maplewood voters passed Proposition E for the Maplewood Richmond Heights School District, and Proposition F for the fire department — both by large margins. Voters said yes to Prop E by over 81 percent and Prop F by over 75 percent.

Also in Maplewood, Sarah Crosley defeated incumbent council member Ray Crader in Ward 2. Sandi Phillips won a second term unopposed in Ward 1 and Shawn Faulkingham also won unopposed in Ward 3.

The three incumbent candidates for the MRH school board were re-elected with no challengers: Maria Langston, Kathryn Kaufman and Francis Chmelir.

In Brentwood Jeff Gould defeated longtime alderman, Andy Leahy, in Ward 3 by 296 – 195 votes. Incumbent aldermen Nancy Tice, Sunny Sims and Kathy O’Neill ran unopposed.

In Richmond Heights Maurice K. Muia defeated Michael Jones (289-196) to fill Rick Vilcek’s District 2 seat, which he held for two years. Greg Vescovo won Joan Provaznik’s District 1 seat unopposed. Megan Moylan won her second full term in District 3. Danny Hebenstreit won District 4 unopposed.

Incumbent Richmond Heights mayor, Jim Thomson defeated Paul Lore, winning 64 percent of the votes.
