MRH runner named All-Metro Newcomer of the Year

Maplewood Richmond Heights sophomore Malik Stewart has been named the All-Metro Boys Track Newcomer of the Year, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

In Stewart’s first state meet he won the Class 2 1,600-meter state championship in 4 minutes and 31 seconds and took second in the 800 to help the Blue Devils finish second as a team, their highest finish since 2011.

He also anchored MRH’s winning 4×800 team, running the team’s final 800 meters in 1:58.3.

In fall 2017 Stewart took second in the state cross country meet.
