MRH soccer has score to settle in state quarterfinal

The Maplewood Richmond Heights Blue Devils (20-5) will face the Saxony Lutheran Crusaders (15-10) in a Class 1 state quarterfinal soccer game at MRH on Saturday, October 29 at 1 p.m.

MRH played Saxony in the Hannibal Varsity Tournament in the beginning of the season, with the Crusaders coming out on top 2-0. It was a very physical and competitive game, a parent said. The Devils finished third and the Crusaders finished second in the tournament.

MRH qualified for the state quarterfinal game by beating Brentwood 6-0 in the district final. It’s the first time in 30 years that the Blue Devils have won districts.

MRH junior Issac Pearson scores one of MRH’s six goals against Brentwood in the district final.
