”The best day of my life”…”This is a once in a lifetime experience”, these are just a few of the many things that the children at Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic School said today during and after the solar eclipse.

The day began with the science teacher, Mrs. Dorhauer, speaking to the students about the solar eclipse and the science behind it, as well as how to be safe during it. The morning was filled with instruction and explanation by the teachers, preparing the children for what they would see and experience in just a couple of hours, the 2017 Solar Eclipse.

Thank you to the Brentwood police who stopped traffic as the Saint Mary Magdalen students and staff crossed Manchester Road. The students, teachers, parents, and Fr. Jack Siefert walked to the Brentwood Community Center and joined the crowd as all celebrated the total solar eclipse. Students in Pre-K through 8th grade secured their glasses as they began to look up in the sky at the sun. Little by little the moon began to cover the sun until darkness came over Brentwood. Claps, screams, and joy filled the air as the students sat in the darkness.
