Some Maplewood businesses are moving within Maplewood, some are moving in, and some are closing.
Sole Survivor has moved from the corner of Manchester and Sutton just 500 feet east, to 7358 Manchester, next to Great Harvest Bread and La Cosecha Coffee. To the other side of Sole Survivor is the empty spot left by the closed Las Palmas.
A media company is moving into the vacated spot on the corner, according to a contractor on the site.
In another move Flying Tiger Motorcycles has vacated their showroom and consolidated into their space just east of the showroom. They’re also doing mainly motorcycle maintenance now instead of sales.
Cheryl’s Herbs has moved into the former Flying Tiger showroom.
Pie Oh My announced on Facebook that its last day of business will be Pi(e) Day, Monday, March 14. Owner Melennie Lorence told St. Louis Magazine that the closing isn’t due to a lack of customers. She said he didn’t have to close it, she wanted to — said it was time.
One more item possibly of interest: Half the floor of Rich’s Hair Salon is oak and the other half is thought to be maple. That’s because at one time the space was a restaurant with a bar that ran the length of the shop (like Tiffany’s Original Diner next to it), and the floor behind the bar had to be replaced due to beverages being spilled occasionally. So that half is oak from Home Depot and the other half is the original 100-year-old maple.
One other item: when Livingroom expanded into the space that Bolyard’s moved from, they replaced 160 panes of single-pane glass with insulated double-pane.
I will really miss Pie Oh My. So sad to see them go.
Bummed about pie oh my but I could almost never get a pie their anyway so I guess it’s not much of a change?
Sad Las Palmas closed. And sad Pie Oh My is closing. Two of my favorites.
I imagine the maple flooring came from Maplewood Mill
