Susan Rehr Wright, wife of former Brentwood mayor, dies

Susan Rehr Wright, born May 28, 1924 in Warren, Ohio, died on May 4, according to an obituary in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Susan Wright was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Edward T. Wright, former mayor of Brentwood, lawyer and writer.

Susan had many roles, including actress, choir member, printing company manager, PTA officer, and garden club member.

She left her high school graduation ceremony in Ohio for Principia College in Elsah, IL, where she met Ed Wright. After Ed served in the China Burma India Theater during WW II they were married in the Principia College chapel.

She is survived by brother Wilmer Rehr III; five children, Carol Wright Hotchkiss Taylor, Ed Wright Jr., Joan Wright Lonnemann, Dory Wright Smith and Jeff Wright; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Susan’s name to Principia College Elsah, Illinois 62028; Durango Adaptive Sports Association, 125 E. 32nd Street Durango, Colorado 81301; the Wildlife Fund or the favorite animal charity of your choice. Remains to be cremated and a private family memorial will be held at a later date.
