Brentwood prepares for flooding

Brentwood Fire Chief Ted Jury said at the Public Safety Committee meeting Thursday that a city-wide staff meeting was held to be ready for potential flooding over the next several days as remnants of tropical storm Bill track through the area. Jury said crews went door-to-door in the flood-prone areas south of Manchester Road that border Deer Creek. He said since the apartments were torn down it’s only businesses that are in danger now. David Schmitt, owner of Knight Auto Air Conditioner, told Fox 2 News his business was flooded in 2008 when Hurricane Ike hit the area. He said nothing has been done to change the creek that flooded in the past, so he plans to “move all the cars out, get all the cars off the lot as well as possible.”
