A new business is moving into the space formerly occupied by Larder & Cupboard in Maplewood, and Get The Word Out — vintage, antiques and global goods — plans to close its doors on Feb. 22.

Tale to Table had a soft opening on Saturday at 7310 Manchester Road. The owners are Brian Pelletier (owner of Kakao Chocolate) and Katie Hannan (manager at Kakao for the last five years). They plan to stock specialty food items similar to what Larder & Cupboard offered, and hold food and cooking-related classes, as well as being a place to share recipes.

Get The Word Out, at 7405 Manchester Road, has marked all merchandise down 50 percent until its closing. Owner Karen Smith said she plans to move the business to a location in St. Louis city.

Tale to Table co-owner Brian Pelletier talks with a customer on Saturday.

  1. I happened upon Get the Word Out. WOW! If you haven’t, watch for this heart-full, creative shop, packed with eclectic resale/vintage/global goods and more, to open in StL City. GTWO is a bona fide, independent, charitable organization. Karen Smith and staff provide a feel-good shopping adventure, while proving that there are incredibly kind, hard-working people in our midst. Lovingly given to Kenyans: school fees, school supplies, shoes, water purifiers, hope, and far more.
