photo(18)Dan Lesseg, owner of the northwest corner of Manchester Road and Big Bend Boulevard, said on Monday that demolition of the old Auto Plaza Ford business is complete, and excavation for the new QuikTrip has begun.

He said removing the footings of the basement was the hardest part of the demolition. “They were really thick. They weren’t meant to go anywhere,” he said.

He said the couple who owns that business is closing shop to retire on Dec. 31. He said he’s making the spot build to suit and has some interest.

“I will build the building for them, so it makes it a little easier when a tenant can spread that capital over the period of the lease.”
