As of September 13 one candidate per office had picked up a petition to run in Maplewood — one for each ward and one for mayor.
The terms of council members David Cerven (Ward 1), Fred Wolf (Ward 2) and Shawn Faulkingham (Ward 3) expire in April 2017; so does Mayor Jim White’s, who has served the maximum of two terms.
Faulkingham picked up a petition last week for Ward 3 council member. Ward 3 council member Barry Greenberg picked up a petition to run for mayor.
Patrick Jugo picked up a petition to run for mayor on Nov. 1.
Ward 1 council member David Cerven picked up a petition to run again for that seat last week, he said in an email. On Nov. 1, Steven Moseley also announced his intention to run for the Ward 1 seat.
Andrew Bolin picked up a petition to run for Ward 2 council member, according to the city clerk. Bolin ran for Missouri State Rep. District 83 in 2014 as a libertarian. That race was won by Democratic Party incumbent Gina Mitten. Bolin announced he is dropping out of the Ward 2 race in mid-October.
MRH Board Director Ray Crader announced in October that he would also run for city council for Ward 2.
Ward 1 is west of Big Bend, Ward 2 is east of Big Bend and north of Manchester, Ward 3 is east of Big Bend and south of Manchester. See a map of Maplewood wards.
Potential candidates need to get a petition from the deputy city clerk at city hall, 7601 Manchester Road. The last date for candidates to file their petition is Nov. 22 at 5 p.m. The first day they can be turned in is October 18.
You must be a qualified voter of the city of Maplewood, a resident of the city for at least one year prior to the election (April 4, 2017, though the city website has the date as Feb. 7) and a resident of the ward you seek to represent.
Isn’t Cerven the man who ran against the school district?
Michelle, he was indeed the treasurer of the “No on Prop Y” committee.
Mr. Bolin also posted comments here on 40 South News opposing Prop Y.
