Sunday at 5:45 a.m. Ameren Missouri was reporting 70 customers without power.
A resident said he “heard and saw what looked like a large firework go off near the ground” on Lyndover Place near Big Bend Boulevard. Robert Chandler, another resident, reported police and fire personnel had shut down Big Bend in the area at around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Update from a later comment (below): A witness said car heading north on Big Bend, veered off the road, drove through a yard on Lyndover and hit a pole with a transformer. The transformer fell from the pole and landed on the car. Power was restored around 7:15 a.m.
According to Maplewood Police, at 8:50 p.m. a male driver hit a utility pole at Lyndover and Big Bend. There were no charges and no arrests. The driver was taken to a hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

We were leaving shop n save last night around 9ish and the parking lots lights went off, as well as the lights down sutton. We wondered what had happened. Guess this is what it was.
