Maplewood city officials on Tuesday will have the first reading for an ordinance to allow a tattoo studio on S. Big Bend. Also they plan to discuss adding parking to Marietta Avenue as a measure to control traffic.
Planning and zoning last week approved sending a positive recommendation for the tattoo studio, at 2801- 2803 S. Big Bend Boulevard, to city council with a 4-1 vote.
Parents and other residents on Marietta are concerned about the volume and speed of traffic there, especially on school mornings. Last week the residents received a proposed plan from the city to add parking to the north side of the street to slow traffic.
Also in the meeting, the council will vote on eight appointments to commissions made by Mayor Barry Greenberg.
There will also be a public hearing for the allocation of $64,000 in Community Development Block Grant Funds. Last year the council approved using the funds to improve the Yale bus shelter ($15,000), fix sidewalks ($15,000), with the remaining $34,000 for the home improvement program for low-income residents.
