Maplewood Richmond Heights students have a new weight room in the same location as the old one. MRH sent out info about it:

As workout facilities go, the old weight room on the west side of the MRH High School/Middle School campus never garnered rave reviews. But that’s changed now, thanks to the combined efforts of the Booster Club, students, high school administration, and the Board of Education.

Early this year, the Booster Club kicked off a community fundraising effort to purchase new exercise equipment and upgrade the building. An astonishing $25,000 was raised in a matter of months. The vast majority of the money — $22,000 — went toward the purchase of equipment. The rest paid for room improvements.

With help from the Show Me Weights company in Fenton, MO., teachers and students spent a portion of their summer gutting the old equipment in preparation for the new. In addition to the upgraded machines, the facility boasts a 1,000-watt sound system.

“What a transformation!  Hard to believe how different it is,” said MRH High School principal Dr. Kevin Grawer.

Boosters leader David Barton said, “Thanks again to everyone for all your donations and support of this project so this dream could become a reality for our kids! MRH Community ROCKS!”

  1. There are so many people to thank for this amazing gift. First and foremost, I would like to thank the MRH Booster Club for their vision and ability to channel efforts to make so many changes possible. They spearhead small incremental changes that have mushroomed into this amazing “addition” that benefits so many and for years to come.
