Beginning 9 a.m. Monday, February 9, all lanes of McCausland Avenue will be closed between Southwest Avenue and Arsenal Street so Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD) crews can complete construction on a sewer line, MSD reports.
Crews will be installing a 90 inch sewer pipe under the area where McCausland and Southwest avenues intersect, extending to Arsenal Street.
All lanes of McCausland Avenue are expected to reopen the week of February 23rd at the earliest.
The construction is a part of an effort to reduce flooding due to overcharged combined sewers in St. Louis, Maplewood, and Richmond Heights. All lanes of Southwest Avenue and Arsenal Street will remain open. See the full announcement from MSD.
I hope that means a new street surface too.
Yikes! I drive that stretch everyday. I’m going to have look for alt routes asap!
Oh man! That’s going to be a nightmare for traffic, all those cars that travel through there to get to 44 from Clayton. Stay away folks.
This isn’t that big a deal: how long was the road closed just to the south where Ellendale crosses the River Des Peres?
