Lochmoeller, 56, took the race 272 to 149 votes, taking 64 percent of the votes.

“I want to thank all the people of the third ward that voted for me,” he said after his win. “Having some competition in my race really made me go out and work hard to meet everybody in my ward.

“I got to shake a lot of hands and meet a lot of friendly people,” Lochmoeller said. “It was really important to me, to my campaign. I listened to what their concerns are for the ward and the city as a whole.”

Hartnett said either way the race went, “I think Brentwood would have been in good hands. Steve is a pretty standup guy. I think we can move forward in a positive direction.” Hartnett said he will remain active in the community as a citizen.

Lochmoeller, 56, said when he filed that he has attended board of alderman, planning and zoning, and various committee meetings over the past two years, and as a result, has gained an understanding of the function of the board of alderman.

Lochmoeller stated his goals in when he filed:

  • I advocate for fiscal conservancy – that keeping costs under control will serve us well going forward.
  • I believe in open government- that the authority of the Mayor and the Board to run the city is granted to them BY THE PEOPLE.
  • I oppose rezoning residential property for commercial use.
  • I desire to see improvements to the Manchester Road corridor.
  • I look forward to knocking on doors and introducing myself to as many Ward 3 residents as I can reach.  I want the needs of residents to be the highest priority at City Hall.  When I meet you, I will be asking what you like best and what you like least about Brentwood.  With your input, together, we can make a difference.
