Maplewood Design and Review approved at its meeting on Thursday signs for three businesses, a renovation, and approved (conceptually) a building for a new Porsche dealership.

The Porsche building will be at approximately 3000 S. Hanley Road — it has no address yet, according to a city staff member at the meeting.

The dealership is a consolidation of two St. Louis Porsche dealers — Parktown Imports at 10230 Manchester Road and Plaza Porsche in Creve Coeur. Houston-based indiGO Auto Group bought them both this year, according to the St. Louis Business Journal.

No representatives of the company attended the meeting. The board had drawings of a Porsche dealership building with Atlanta (GA) signage on the outside. They assumed the Maplewood building would be similar, and approved it.

Design and review also approved signs for Planet Score Records, 7124 Manchester Road, Clarkson Eyecare, 7335 Manchester Road and Studio Art, 7403 Manchester Road.

A city employee said a Maserati-Alfa Romeo dealer would be requesting approval the next meeting.

The board didn’t approve a request from a real estate company, Smart Rentals, at 2309 Big Bend Boulevard, that wanted to paint its sign on a piece of plywood that replaced a window on the front of the house.

They did approve exterior alterations on the backs of 7266 – 7270 Manchester Road. Patrick Jugo, the architect and contractor, said buildings that were separate from the businesses facing Manchester Road had been removed. The plan is to finish the back of the buildings with corrugated steel, boarderd and accented with brown details.
