In July Maplewood resident Brad Jackson filed law suits against the city of Maplewood; Maplewood Mayor Barry Greenberg; Kate Bethel, owner of Maven Bath and Candle Co., and Isaac Chosich, an employee at Maven. He has now explained his allegations in a video in this link.

Details of the suits are posted on casenet, case number 24SL-CC03556. All of the allegations are in the petition.

Jackson is being represented by attorney and Maplewood resident Mark Edward Blankenship of the Ott Law Firm.

Bethel has commented on the claims, per her attorney: “The claims made are untrue and I will be taking the steps necessary to reach a just outcome.”

  1. Example of City playing “Fast and Loose”, from 40 South News – In contentious (but civil) meeting, city council appoints Amber Withycombe as new city manager By Doug Miner -December 13, 2023
In contentious (but civil) meeting, city council appoints Amber Withycombe as new city manager.
Jennifer Phillips said it’s a “disservice to fill the largest position that we have in the city without so much as posting or even making public any type of job description. It also makes me wonder where else in our city we cut corners, where else we take the easy route because it’s quick, because we happen to know someone, because we threw our friends’ names in a hat…” Mayor Nikylan Knapper spoke, defending the council and its hiring process for the new city manager. This is what is happening in Maplewood MO. It does not matter who the mayor is or who the council persons are. Maplewood MO “It is what it is” Fast and Loose.

  2. Wow, I appreciate the explanation from Brad Jackson. Casenet can be hard to follow but if you go to the Docket Entry tab and scroll down to 7/31 there is a ‘+’ plus sign next to “Pet Filed in Circuit Ct.” Tap on the ‘+’ to reveal another ‘+’ with the word “Petition” next to it. Tap on that ‘+’ next to petition to reveal the emails sent between Mayor Greenberg and Kate Bethel.

    • I’m not sure how Isaac is named in this petition. Based on the casenet information, he brings up valid points, and completes his post, as “Take it as you will”.

      What’s the issue with Isaac?
