Police are investigating a shooting that occurred east of the Saint Louis Galleria near the MetroLink Station Tuesday between 7:15 and 7:30 p.m. according to CBS News.

Two people were hospitalized with gunshot wounds but were said to be in stable condition Tuesday night.

Richmond Heights officers chased suspects on foot down Brentwood Boulevard toward Clayton Road. Five suspects were arrested, Fox 2 News reported.

There were reports that authorities broke up a fight in the Galleria food court just before the shooting, but it’s not clear if it’s related.

  1. So many events like that recently are why I will never ride Metrolink again.
There would have to be a cop on every platform and in every car first.

    • With all due respect, the shooting was not on the Metrolink platform, or even that NEAR Metrolink! As you can see from the above photos, it was right across Brentwood Boulevard from the Galleria, making it closer to the mall than the ‘link.

Not saying there aren’t problems with crime on Metrolink (I’m a regular rider), but making a blanket statement based on half-true facts and irrational fears doesn’t help anyone.

      • Mark, the shooting by the thugs, who were heading for the metro link, occurred just west of the station, literally in between the Galleria and the “link”. I don’t believe Tom was making half-truths nor is he irrationally fearful. It’s those with their heads in the sand who won’t recognize a crime problem when it literally shoots people in front of them. Senator Jet Banks saw to it that law abiding citizens do not have the right to defend themselves on metro, the only place in Missouri where it is a felony to conceal carry.

        • I go through that station almost everyday. I often get off there to go to the mall. It is always a bit chaotic there and there have been quite a few times even in the day time where I find myself glancing over my shoulder. I just witnessed a daytime snatch and run at the Forest Park station. It was NOON. This stuff is happening and it’s a crying shame. I won’t stop riding the ML since I don’t drive but if I had a car, I’d start to consider it. They just passed a new initiative that will be amping up the amount of police presence at ML stations. They are fully aware of what is going on and that ridership is down because of it.
