Maplewood carjacking suspect charged

A suspect has been charged in a carjacking that occurred in Maplewood near Lyndover Place and Sutton Boulevard on January 11. Randall T. Taylor, 22, of St. Louis has is charged with first degree robbery and armed criminal action.

According to police and court reports, the victim said he was approached by four men, one of whom had a small silver pistol and demanded money. The victim was near his parked 2010 Ford Focus.

The victim tried to run away but was shoved to the ground and hit repeatedly in the head and face with the gun; his car was stolen. It was recovered later the same day in St. Louis, occupied by four men, including the defendant, the driver. The defendant was identified by the victim as the gunman.
