Brentwood Chief of Police Dan Fitzgerald reported on the department blog, The Chief’s Desk, that a Brentwood officer investigated a person who turned out to be a suspect in two Brentwood robberies.

On Tuesday May 31, the Radio Shack at 2518 Brentwood Boulevard was burglarized at approximately 11:30 p.m. The suspect used a large rock to break the window and enter the store and steal electronic items. The alarm company notified police, and when they responded, the suspect had left the area.

Thursday morning at 6:10 a.m. a similar burglary occurred at the AT&T store at 1811 Brentwood Boulevard. Once again, electronic items were taken. The Brentwood police department was notified of an alarm at the business.

While enroute to the store, a Brentwood officer saw a ‘suspicious’ person in the Hanley Industrial Court area. After investigating, it was discovered the person was the suspected burglar from the AT&T and Radio Shack stores. He is a suspect in other burglaries in the St Louis area as well.

Thursday afternoon the St Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s office charged the suspect, Joseph L. Binford, 35, of E. St Louis, IL, with second degree burglary  and stealing.
