Gardeners from Glorious Gardens on Thursday morning planted and mulched the garden at Zephyr Place and Big Bend Boulevard that Isaac Young maintained for years.

Young died in May. Rhonda Schaper, owner of Glorious Gardens, said Young’s widow, Marilyn, has been supporting the garden since then. She said from this point on, the city of Maplewood will take over the maintenance.

  1. In a previous post, I said that most of us will never know home much Isaac did for Maplewood. Here is another example that I didn’t know about. And that is just Maplewood, I’ll bet Olivette was also the beneficiary of his generosity.

  2. I would love for part of this garden to be veggies. I know there is a Maplewood Community Garden in Kellogg Park, but why not have another?? I live just up the street, on Zephyr and would be happy to do a bit of maintenance. I bet others on the
7400 block would too. Just a thought 🙂
