The Brentwood Debate Team “experienced fantastic success” at the War of the Words invitational tournament in Mexico, MO, Dec. 4-5, according to team coach, Robyn Haug. She had this report:

“We had a wonderful time in Mexico and the kids made us proud. Meghan entered three events and advanced out of preliminary rounds in all three. She has earned an award in Radio Speaking every time she has entered it this year! Zach also achieved another first place award in his event. This is the third tournament in a row that he has left with a first place trophy! Angeles also advanced in two events and this was her first time advancing out of preliminary rounds in debate this year. And finally, we had two freshmen in final rounds of an open tournament (no novice division was offered). Ben and Contessa were both in final rounds at a very difficult events tournament as freshmen novice competitors! Congratulations to all the kids on a wonderful tournament!”

She also posted on Twitter:

Also: Brentwood resident, and SLUH student, Joseph Hartung was named Second Trombone in the Missouri All-State Jazz Band, an organization that recognizes the best high school jazz players in the state. The statewide competition involves a rigorous audition process; it took place over the Thanksgiving weekend.
