Brentwood interim police chief named

The city of Brentwood announced on Tuesday that Mayor Chris Thornton has announced that Brentwood Police Major James McIntyre will be the interim chief of police, following Chief Dan Fitzgerald’s retirement, on May 5.

McIntyre has been with the Brentwood Police since 1991, as a patrol officer, then a detective sergeant for five years, and most recently as the assistant chief, since 2014. He holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy. He is an avid runner and a supporter of several non-profits, including the Special Olympics.
