Three women were carjacked in Maplewood Sunday night in the 7200 block of Southwest Avenue, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported on Tuesday.
The women were unpacking their car about 11:30 p.m., police told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
They were approached by three hooded men, including one who threatened one of the women with a shotgun. She fought with the man and was able to take the gun from the man, but he got into the car.
Police believe the three men drove off in the car — a black, 2011 Hyundai Elantra. At least one was believed to be armed with a handgun.
The shotgun never went off, police said. The woman in the altercation had minor injuries.
“Crime like that is definitely not normal for this area,” Maplewood Detective Sgt. John LeClerc told the Post-Dispatch. “St. Louis as a whole has been going through a rash of these types of crimes.”
Maplewood police have not responded to 40 South about any progress on the crime.
Two carjackings took place in June in Maplewood also.
I would think that they would not like to be seen so as not to be identifiable. Some are dumb enough to do so, but I wouldn’t my face out there for all to see.
My guess is they were wearing hoodies. You know the rest….
Always appreciate your subtle racism Jedd.
Yes, would like a description of the perpetrators. All we know is they were “males.” That really narrows it down!
I lived in New Orleans for six years and there were many carjackings in the news. That is until they passed a law that said you could legally shoot a carjacker. One woman did just that and, guess what, very few carjackings after that.
Why is there never a description of the car jacker’s. Locals may recognize them.
There needs to be a description so the community can help find the thugs
