The previous D Mart (2664 Big Bend Boulevard), across from the new QuikTrip, closed for lack of business according to the owner about a year ago. He was also thinking QuikTrip wouldn’t help the situation.
Now that QuikTrip has opened the agent said she’s busy showing it. She had a showing Tuesday afternoon.
The space is 2,145 square feet for $1,900 a month, which includes utilities. It has an updated bathroom, new drywall and fresh paint.
It’s next to the only Chinese restaurant in Maplewood, Wong’s Inn.
Also, if you have a spare minute, here’s an amusing reminiscence of a visit to D Mart in 1997 from Yelp.
I saw the neon Open sign was on when I was across the street filling up on Monday night. Hopefully they get a sign up soon for Wongs Inn at least, otherwise only the locals are going to know it’s there.
Is Wong’s Inn still open? It looked closed to me when I was by there the other day…
I’ve been wondering about Wong’s also. I’m right on the verge of needing my cashew chicken fix!
That Yelp review is hilarious, and surprisingly well written!
