A round-up of news from mostly Maplewood businesses, in no particular order.

Foundation Grounds (7298 Manchester) has new hours: 6:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday – Saturday, (that’s the new part). Sunday is 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. On Memorial Day the hours will be 6:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.

There’s a giant hole dug behind Foundation Grounds. It’s where new stairs and the entrance to the basement door will be, as part of their addition. A porch at the door, above it, will lead to the kitchen garden in the back.

A Pizza Story (7278 Manchester) is in the middle of hiring and getting all the details tied up before opening. Here’s more photos of the inside.

Alderman David Cerven has moved his photography studio, Studio Altius, from 2301 Big Bend to 822 Hanley Industrial Court, in Brentwood.

Several independent Maplewood businesses will be closed or have reduced hours on Memorial Day. Brentwood, Maplewood and Richmond Heights city offices will be closed.

  • The Book House, Saturday 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Home Wine Kitchen, open Monday – “No Menu Monday” is on, like usual
  • Great Harvest Bakery, closed Sunday and Monday (Memorial Day). Normally open Sunday 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • The Heights, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Monday
  • Strange Donuts, open as usual. This weekend’s Stranger is with Gringo
