In the St. Louis Post-Dispatch food critic’s annual ranking of the best places to eat in St. Louis, Maplewood’s Reeds American Table came in 16th.
Critic Ian Froeb named others in the “Rest of the Best:” Maplewood’s Acero, Brentwood’s Mai Lee, and Richmond Heights’ Salume Beddu at Parker’s Table.
Southwest Diner, just east of Maplewood, in St. Louis city, made it too. The diner has a Brentwood connection: one of the co-owners went to Brentwood HS.
Also, a good sign for Maplewood, Ben Poremba — “Chef/Owner of Bengelina Hospitality Group, the St. Louis-based, award-winning operator of Nixta and Bar Limón, Elaia, Olio, Parigi, and La Patisserie Chouquette,” according to his website, plans to open a new restaurant in Maplewood — The Benevolent King, at 7268 Manchester Road, the former Water Street Cafe location.
