Total Wine & More, a big box wine, beer and liquor store in Brentwood Promenade, opened Thursday morning.
It’s the second Total Wine store in the area. The first is in Town and Country; the third is due to open in Chesterfield in November, according to the St. Louis Business Journal.
Bud Starr, owner of Starrs wine shop at 1135 South Big Bend Boulevard, told the Business Journal he’s lowered prices on about 20 products to keep up with Total Wine. “You have to do that,” Starr told the Business Journal. “They publish their prices, and we looked at them. You can’t give customers a reason to go somewhere else.”

Starr said he thinks established wine shops in the St. Louis area will “be fine” with the addition of Total Wine & More. His 10,500-square-foot shop also it has its own restaurant, roasts coffee and has a large gourmet cheese department.
Total Wine’s hours are 9 a.m. – 10 p.m. Monday – Saturday, and 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. on Sunday.
