When Total Wine and More opens at 90 Brentwood Promenade Court, it will be one of more than 100 of the company’s big-box liquor stores nationally. It’s replacing Golf Galaxy, which closed in May.
Total Wine was given a letter of intent for a liquor license at a Brentwood Board of Aldermen meeting in March. A wheelchair ramp has been added to the front entrance and the interior is now empty, with workers prepping for the buildout. Total Wine’s stores average 25,000 square feet of space, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
“We’re the Whole Foods of the alcoholic beverage business,” CEO and president, David Trone told the Post-Dispatch. He said Total Wine used the same interior design firm as the grocery chain.
Trone said in a phone interview with the Post-Dispatch that his recent trips to Anheuser-Busch drew his interest to the area.

I’ll agree that parking in the Promenade is awful and the comparison to Whole Paycheck made me laugh and consider dismissing them outright.
I did a quick search and found their site. They seem to be more like a Friar Tuck’s which may make me brave that parking lot if I can find 4 choices of Eisbock. Prices on non-specialty brands seemed to be about in line with Shop n Save, maybe even a bit better.
Greatly looking forward to horrible parking, cramped aisles, overpriced booze, and that weird smell that seems to be present in every organic grocery store. Be wary of any CEO who uses another company’s name to describe his company. The Whole Foods of liquor? Seriously? Surely they will still sell Bud Light and Jim Beam?
Sure, I’ll go out of my way to pay more for beer, wine, etc. Not.
