The Maplewood Richmond Heights track and field team was strong at last weekend’s Class 2, District 2 meet at Monroe City — and is looking good going into Saturday’s sectional meet at Hillsboro. The top four finishers at Sectionals will advance to the Class 2 State Championships in Jefferson City on May 18-19, the St. Louis American reported.
MRH’s individual boys champions were Zach Barton in the 100 and Malik Stewart in the 1,600. The Blue Devils 4×100- and 4×800-meter relay teams were also champions. Blue Devil Jayda Buchannon was also a double-winner in the 400 and 800.
Also advancing to Sectionals from MRH are: Barton (fourth in 200), Tyree King (fourth in 400), Stewart (second in the 800), Joshua Helle (third in 3,200), Logan McDonald (third in high jump), Chris Skaggs (second in discus, fourth in shot put) and the 4×200- and 4×400-meter relay teams.
