Maplewood detectives are trying to determine if a shooting on Wednesday at the corner of Lohmeyer Avenue and Sutton Boulevard was a case of road rage or the result of an ongoing dispute, Fox 2 has reported.
Witnesses said that around 1:30 p.m. the driver of a white pickup truck crashed into the back of a BMW. The BMW driver then shot the pickup driver, who then drove up over the curb.
The the suspected gunman was still there and the wounded man was still in the truck when police arrived. Officers arrested the suspected gunman and recovered the weapon.
Police said the men did not know each other. Maplewood Police Detective Matt Nighbor told Fox 2 they’re trying to determine if there was an argument that led to the crash and the shooting.
“It is very uncommon for this area for any shooting, period, especially at this time of afternoon with people walking around, residents outside of their houses due to the weather,” Nighbor said.
The suspected gunman is in his early 20s, the victim is in his 50s, police said. The victim’s wounds did not appear to be life threatening.
Since when do guns settle things peacefully when someone got shot. Very peaceful indeed.
Looks like a violent incident took place before the firearm was used. A 3,000 + pound weapon assaulted a much smaller vehicle for some reason. Just sayin’, trucks and autos are very dangerous to others if not handled properly and kept within their bounds.
The driver of the truck is clearly irresponsible. He should have had a gun as well.
Daniel knows what’s up. Clearly a second gun would have resolved this situation peacefully.
