Schlafly has hit its capacity for making beer in St. Louis, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
To remedy that, the St. Louis brewer plans to spend $1 million to double the capacity at the Bottleworks brewery in Maplewood — going from 45,000 barrels annually to just under 90,000.
The Bottleworks’ footprint won’t change, but up to six fermentation tanks will be added to its current 26, and a third shift will be added, so brewing will run 24 hours a day. The upgrade is planned to be completed in 2017.

Awesome news. I made the switch to Schlafly from the international conglomerate about a year ago.
Just in time for the next recession – we’ll need more beer for that. Seriously, I am pleased by this news.
