RICHMOND HEIGHTS – An ordinance to approve the site plan for two new Boys Hope Girls Hope residences had its first reading at the April 7 Richmond Heights city council meeting. The council had no questions about the ordinance.
The homes would be built at 8019, 8023, 8031 and 8035 Elinor Avenue and would house 10 students. Richmond Heights Plan and Zoning Commission approved the plan on March 20, 2014.
Boys Hope Girls Hope Executive Director Brian Hipp was on hand for the city council meeting and is thrilled with the possibility of being in Richmond Heights.
“This is a great place for these young people to pursue their goals,” Hipp said. “They will have access to quality education and be part of a vibrant community.”
The ordinance will have its second reading at the city council meeting on April 21.
The city council also approved a pay increase for itself and the mayor. It is the first raise for the council in 20 years. Former council member Tim Gallagher spoke to the council. He did not oppose the pay raise, but suggested reducing the size of the council from 8 to 6. The change would require a vote of the people. Council members were open to the idea.
