Brentwood resident, Brandon Jones, who announced he would run for Ward 3 alderman, in August, announced on Facebook Friday that he’s changed his mind. He blamed the “political game.”
Jones’ announcement:
It is with deep regret that I inform the citizens of Brentwood that I will not be running for alderman of ward 3. The way the political game is played goes against every fiber of my being. I just can’t play it.
I want nothing but the best for Brentwood. I sincerely hope that somebody with the city’s best interest at heart will step up to run. Unfortunately that person won’t be me. Thank you for all the support, I wish you all the best.
Jones declined to go into any more detail for publication in 40 South News.
He ran because he said the elected officials don’t listen to residents, using the decision to move the city’s police and fire dispatching to a central service as an example.

Aldermen, Anthony Harper (Ward 1), Lee Wynn (Ward 2), Keith Robertson (Ward 3), Tom Kramer (Ward 4) and Mayor Pat Kelly all have expiring terms in April 2015.
Ward 4 Alderman Patrick Toohey has announced his candidacy for mayor.
When will we start hearing from mayoral candidate Patrick Toohey? I had coffee with him one time and got the sense he was a negotiator and a listener. I would like to know about his proffer for dealing with B’wood issues.
I like Brandon’s “ear to the ground” support of his neighbors, which is what an alderman is supposed to have. I am sorry he is not running.
