The Brentwood High School debate team has earned plenty of awards in the nine years it’s been around; this year it’s more about how young and inexperienced the team is than actual success, debate team coach Robyn Haug said.
The team is mainly freshman and sophomores — along with some juniors who don’t have a lot of debate experience — who are fired up and earning awards in competitions that would seem to be too difficult for them, according to Haug. “We are young and inexperienced and are still moving forward and winning conference awards, and that is what is so exciting!”
