Brentwood girls basketball lost its first game but won five in a row after that. It’s one of the best starts for the girls in recent years, according to the Brentwood Spirit.
They made it all the way to the championship game at the Cardinal Ritter Holiday Tournament, which they lost, but head into the season with a 5-2 record.
Head coach Chris Jones told the Brentwood Spirit he’s got a young team, and the good tournament finish and strong record is a nice surprise.
“We have two sophomores, two juniors and a senior starting,” Jones said. “I didn’t know that we’d get to the tournament championship. I didn’t know we’d be 5-2 at this point. You can wish and hope for it but usually it doesn’t happen. It’s a nice surprise to finish out 2013.”
