Brentwood Mayor Chris Thornton plans to replace former Ward 2 alderman Keith Slusser with a new appointee at a special board of aldermen meeting on June 6.

Slusser announced his resignation from the board at a May meeting; he is moving to a new home in Ward 1, so was forced to resign as Ward 2 alderman. He was elected to the board in 2015.

Thornton plans to appoint Brandon Wegge, he said in an email.

Thornton said Wegge is a long time resident of Ward 2 and ran against Alderman Lee Wynn in 2011, losing by only four votes. “I am confident he is well respected by the citizens of Ward 2 and will do a very good job of representing them for the remainder of Alderman Slusser’s term,” he said.

“I want to thank Alderman Slusser for his work on the Board and for his leadership on the Ways & Means Committee,” Thornton said. “I think we all have benefited from his extensive knowledge and experience. I hope he will stay involved municipal government.”
