Brentwood officials OK higher budget, shorter mayor’s term

Brentwood officials passed the 2015 city budget Monday, a budget that anticipates spending 13.84 percent more by the city in 2015 than in  2014, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The 2015 budget is $24.1 million, up last year’s $21.1 million.

City Administrator Bola Akande said aldermen approved a $5.8 million agreement for $5.1 million for community center renovations and $690,000 to refinance what the city still owes on library renovations and the fire station. Read the full article in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The alderman also passed a bill making the terms of all elected officials two years in length. The mayor’s term was previously four years. The change will take place in 2015.

Aldermen, Anthony Harper (Ward 1), Lee Wynn (Ward 2), Keith Robertson (Ward 3), Tom Kramer (Ward 4) and Mayor Pat Kelly all have expiring terms in April 2015. Ward 4 Alderman Patrick Toohey has announced his candidacy for mayor.
