  1. John entered our lives last year, sharing views of life with me at the Sunday Music Socials in our Lower Alabama winter home. He had a nickname here from his friends – “Hemingway” – from his constant writing of observations and poetry in his ever present journal. Words were his paint, he was living his retirement developing his artistry. His last few years were in search of Utopia, and he says he found it here. We looked for him yesterday at this weeks Sunday Social. We learned of his passing from our hostess Cathy Steele. He always stood at the same viewing spot leaning on the same rail. I assumed his position for a few minutes, patted his writing surface, and wished him well in his further travels. I do and will miss him.

  2. I too was deeply saddened to hear of John’s passing. His passion for community, family and friends was at the core of his being. He will be missed.

Both John and Louise loved Brentwood and infused others with the spirit of community service in those who shared their world.

  3. I am truly saddened to of learned about this earlier today. Knowing John and how passionate he was about Brentwood, I’d like to think he is currently sitting up in heaven’s version of O.B. Clark’s having a beverage served to him by Ed O’Brein while politely debating Brentwood’s future comprehensive plan with Louis Charboneau.
