The owner and founder of Speakeasy Therapies and Fitness, Celia Montes, which opened and closed (recently) on Sutton Boulevard, said the business closed in Maplewood because she lost her staff, and subsequently had to dissolve the business.
Montes said that upon moving the business from Kirkwood to Maplewood her staff decided that they were going to abandon their jobs, and as a result the business had to close. She said the employees didn’t tell her why they left.
She said she loves Maplewood and the space, and doesn’t want negative attention brought to Maplewood as a result. She said her staff left without sufficient notice.
There has to be more on the employee’s side of this. You don’t have every employee quit without notice just because… If it were two or three employees that would be one thing, but a mass exodus like this, there is usually shady dealings going on and in an occupation like Speech and a Occupational Therapy there is the risk of the employees losing their license if they get caught up in something untoward…
Disappointed to see this article posted with only one side of the story. Those involved know the truth.
Can you help fill us in on the other side?
Then, speak your truth.
Celia Montes Used a business plan that relied on a State Grant that was denied. Not too transparent for the employees. Waste everybody’s time and money. Maplewood, MO Special Business District has a reputation, the landlords prostitute their buildings for cash, which is one reason for so much turnover. The area supports fraudulent activity on many levels, and cash is king. Barry Greenberg rented to one her name is Linda Beck, she opened “Flora Diva” in one of Barry’s storefronts next to Architectural Design Guild.
Your unhinged hatred for Greenberg is really something to behold–guess u preferred that authoritarian ego-maniac Knapper, eh? The mayor who literally surrounded herself with sycophants and trolls to protect her from any criticism. Knapper was LOATHED by most of the businesses here and I am sure they are happy to share why.
Cyberbullying
Cyberbullying is a broad word that refers to a variety of harassing activities. It is defined as “willful and repetitive harm perpetrated through the use of computers, mobile phones, as well as other electrical gadgets.” The phrase is most commonly applied to children and young people. GL stated my mental state is “unhinged” whomever this person is will not use a legal name. What would that suggest? Please, would everyone reading these posts place a commit?
Sounds like the owner needs to take accountability for her inability to run a business. They clearly quit for good reason.
Yeah, they didn’t want to relocate from Kirkwood to Maplewood. The expense of running a small business has skyrocketed in the last 3 years, including rent, interest rates, wages, utilities and the cost of everything you have to buy. Not to mention the cost of gas to commute. Its disgusting, so let’s place blame where it belongs.
Negative attention to Maplewood? Sounds like the employees were fearful for their safety.
No.
Abandon their jobs? That’s a little dramatic. There’s more to this story.
Was his a bar or a gym?
It appears there is a lot more to this story considering Kirkwood and Maplewood are not an extreme distance for the former employees to travel.
I looked at their website…looked like Speach & Occupational Therapy.
