How would you describe THE HEIGHTS?
THE HEIGHTS: Richmond Heights Community Center, focuses on health, wellness and community enrichment for area individuals and families of all ages and abilities.
THE HEIGHTS offers a variety of fitness options for those wanting to get in shape or stay in shape, with state-of-the-art cardio machines, strength equipment, and a dedicated free weight area. In addition, the Fitness center offers an elevated indoor track, personal training services, and massage therapy. And, if it’s group fitness that you are interested in, THE HEIGHTS offers a wide variety of fitness classes, from spinning, to Zumba, to Bootcamps, to sr. land and water programs. In addition, why not try out our indoor leisure pool, equipped with lap lanes, play features and a two-story slide for the younger ones, a lazy river, dry sauna, steam room and spa, coupled with organized aqua fit classes and swim lesson programs.
THE HEIGHTS also boasts a full service banquet center that provides a warm, comfortable feel, accommodating up to 240 guests, a caterer’s kitchen and a hardwood dance floor. And, with four separate spaces we can host business meetings, receptions, birthday parties and showers, you name it, we can do it.

What is the most exciting thing to happen to THE HEIGHTS?
Since opening its doors in late 2000, THE HEIGHTS has become home to many area youth, adults and senior citizens. We have watched the community embrace the department, our programs, parks and services, which has been truly amazing. There is nothing more gratifying than watching people having fun, laughing, socializing with one another, truly looking forward to seeing one another and getting fit in so many ways. That’s when you know you have done something right.
As an industry, parks and recreation has been around forever. Parks have played a part in almost everyone’s life. When you ask someone to think back on a great childhood memory, it usually involves something that they did while at a park, sports activity, playing on a playground, hiking, picnicking, swimming, and on and on.
Do you have a “favorite” Maplewood or Richmond Heights business?
Besides our own or managing the Maplewood Family Aquatic Center? I can’t think of just one or two; there are so many that we, as a department, interact with on a daily basis. We see the benefit in partnering whenever possible as it enables us to offer so much more for so much less. And, I would have to truly say that not only has the residential community embraced our services, but the corporate and business community as well, which we appreciate and look forward to many more years of serving the area.
