A Twitter user (@PubPolHist) passed on an old postcard he discovered of what was once Buckingham’s restaurant in Brentwood, at 8945 Manchester Road.

Information online says the card is circa 1946.

Also, text on the back of the postcard reads: “Buckingham’s / Table d’hote / Chicken and steak dinners / Where polite people assemble — Excellent food served in a homelike, bright and cheery atmosphere — Ideal facilities for parties — Bridge luncheons.”

This building on Manchester, previously the Weston Group building, looks similar.

  1. I remember it well. We had many family dinners there. The food was delicious. I loved the building set back a bit from Manchester.
