Rue 21 store — clothing and accessories for young men and women — is closing its Deer Creek location. It’s one of four in the St. Louis area and 400 nationwide to close.
The company said in a statement that “as part of our ongoing business transformation into a more cost efficient operator, we are closing unprofitable stores across our fleet in order to focus on our many hundreds of highly profitable locations,” USA Today reported last week.
The Deer Creek store is set to close sometime between June 18 to 25, an employee said.
Rue 21 opened at Deer Creek Center in August 2014 in the space previously occupied by discount women’s fashion retailer, Dots.
The other St. Louis area store closing are Summit at Gravois Bluffs in Fenton, Heritage Place in Creve Coeur, and Phoenix Center II in Washington, according to The St. Louis Business Journal.
Unfortunate causality of the brick and morter retail stores. Sears, JC Penny, Macy’s just to name a few are all in trouble.
Has anyone noticed the sign at Diebergs Center on Eager Road where Office Max closed that Home Goods is going to open there? When is this?
