The Shoe Carnival in Deer Creek Center in Maplewood closed early Tuesday and boarded up the windows. Mayor Jim White said in the Maplewood Council meeting Tuesday the boards will be removed for business Wednesday morning.
White said it was a precaution, after a Shoe Carnival on Gravois Road in south St. Louis was looted Monday night by 30 to 40 people, according to STL Today.
The Deer Creek store closed at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday instead of its usual 9 p.m. time.
At least one Maplewood Police car was seen on duty at the shopping center at around 8:45 p.m.
Go Mark. My sentiments exactly. Is this the only way to get national attention for what is a severe problem in our community?
I don’t blame them, but yet hate the fact we as the normal law abiding citizens have to live in fear of thugs who think stealing other people’s property is the right course of action.
