Democratic Director of Elections Eric Fey, of the St. Louis County Election Board told the 40 South News editor on Sunday that absentee voting began on September, 27 in Missouri, not the end of October, as incorrectly stated in an article in 40 South last week — it’s been corrected.
The St. Louis County Election Board has processed nearly 18,000 voters at the Deer Creek facility as of Oct. 30. Last week more than a thousand voters were processed each day, Fey said. On Saturday, October 29, the Deer Creek facility processed 913 voters in the four hours it was open, which equates to almost four voters being processed per minute.
He said they measure the line at regular intervals to stay on top of things, and the line, while being a bit over an hour at peak times, moves efficiently.
Fey said: “As we near the election, people should expect lines as the volume increases. We must process everyone at one location using a statutorily required specific and tedious paperwork process. No election authority in Missouri is processing absentee voters more quickly and efficiently than us. Just curious – wonder how this compares to past presidential election years
