A road closure on McCausland Avenue between Southwest Avenue and Arsenal Road, so Metropolitan Sewer District can bury large sewer pipes will remain closed through March 2, road signs now say. MSD originally said the closure would last into the week of Feb. 23.
The closure diverts traffic from Arsenal, in St. Louis city into Maplewood by way of Canterbury and Marshall. Traffic is heavy on rush hour both ways.
When it was first closed, cars were backed up from Manchester south to Canterbury on Marshall. Sutton Boulevard was backed up too.
Maplewood Police Department Sgt. Matt Nighbor said the department is aware of the increased traffic and has been monitoring the area.
The video is from Feb. 11 around 8 a.m.
