After beating Maplewood Richmond Heights in districts 12-2, Brentwood fell by the same score to Clearwater (about 130 miles south) in their sectional game Monday at Brentwood Park.
Clearwater’s starting pitcher, senior Bryce Alcorn, went three innings, not allowing a hit. In the fourth, Brentwood got two runs on three hits from Chuck Jones, Mike Mills and Morgan Murphy and a sacrifice fly by Skylar Sappington, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
But that was all for the Eagles. They committed six errors and struck out 11 times. “Those three guys (Clearwater’s middle of the batting order) were dominant today and we just did not play well,” Brentwood coach Mike Imergoot told the Post-Dispatch.
