Applegate’s Deli, in Brentwood (1912 S. Brentwood Boulevard), is on its way out, with an Einstein Bros. Bagels taking its place.
Applegate’s has been “Proudly serving St. Louis for 25 years” according to its website.
Owner Mike Patel said on Friday that Applegate’s run is over, and he’s giving it a try with an Einstein Bros. Bagels franchise. He said Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, on the other side of the space, will stay.
Depending on how permits and construction goes, he hopes to open the Einstein Bros. in March.
Patel will start out with 5 a.m. – 5 p.m. hours for the Einstein Bros. Bagels.
We miss Dickies and are wondering when they will reopen?
…and all of their soups. BooHoo. But, Julie, Einstein’s has excellent bagels, coffee and breakfast/luncheon sandwiches. My question is: Why does Brentwood need three of the same type of eateries within walking distance of each other. Maybe all three of their businesses will depend on whether you are driving north or south on the Boulevard.
That might be true Mimi, but their chicken salad sandwich on a five-grain bread…well I would drive quite a few miles to enjoy it! I will miss them!
Major bummer…LOVED their chicken salad…
