Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Brentwood will be celebrating the restoration of a statue of St. Michael the Archangel by hosting a feast day Mass for local first responders. St. Michael is the patron saint of police officers and others who keep us safe. The statue has been absent from the sanctuary during its restoration and will be returned in time for this special Mass.
First responders from Brentwood and neighboring communities are invited to the noon Mass, but any first responder is welcome. Fr. Jack Siefert, pastor of Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, will offer a blessing for those in attendance, and each first responder will be given a blessed St. Michael medal.
This event began in 2002, as a remembrance of 9/11, and was held that week in September. It was originally named the First Responders’ Mass, then became the Civil Servants’ Mass. This year’s Mass will be moved several weeks to coincide with the return of the St. Michael statue and the feast day of the Archangels.
