Before European colonization, Missouri was home to the most powerful Native American nation west of the Mississippi: the Osage. Today, the Osage remain a prominent and vital nation.
Through slides and lecture, Jim Duncan illustrates the fascinating history of the Osage in Missouri, their ceremonies, their arts, and how the Osage are keeping their heritage alive on their reservation in Oklahoma and beyond. Jim Duncan, of Osage heritage, is an author, archaeologist, historian, and former Director of the Missouri State Museum in Jefferson City.
